NYC ACT-SO Needs

What could we accomplish with
greater resources?

The NYC ACT-SO program is chronically underfunded and is
operated entirely by volunteers.  In the first instance, the program
requires money to run simply as it does today.  Beyond this need,
with additional funds the organizations could hire professional staff which
would improve every aspect of NYC ACT-SO.  Specifically, each high school
in the city could be monitored, recruitment of coaches and judges could be enhanced.  Additionally, the organization might be in a position to provide
other services, such as job referral to students.

NYC ACT-SO is frequently unable to provide support to students
proposing technical projects.  As an example, it is difficult to secure lab facilities for students competing in the sciences, or video equipment for filmmakers.  With greater resources we could address these dificiencies.

How we can help you?

NYC ACT-SO would be pleased to develop partnerships with corporate
and other donors which are tailored to the donors' philanthropic concerns.
Specifically, the program anticipates that it will be able to generate a
substantial amount of favorable publicity for its principal sponsors.  Further,
by its nature, ACT-SO provides the opportunity for significant personal
involvement by donors.  In addition to providing funds, a corporate donor
could, for instance, recruit coaches from among its workforce.  We also
welcome the opportunity to expose our students to sponsors' business
through internships, field trips or other means.
